‘World’s Best Pop’ Father’s Day Decorations

Who has the best Dad in the world? Tell you dad or your kids’ dad that he’s the ‘World’s Best Pop’ with this printable banner and custom face balloon.

Custom Printed Balloon with Face -1

There are so many punny “Pop” interactions for Father’s Day: popcorn, soda pop, cake pops, push pops — but what about an actual thing that goes pop? Custom balloons for Father’s Day were in order! But I certainly didn’t need the dozens of balloons I’d have to custom order with FMG’s face on them (although it would be pretty funny to do that for his birthday….) just for Father’s Day!

So tissue paper and mod podge to the rescue for this DIY custom balloon. Most printers will print on tissue paper – if you just prep it accordingly.

I know it’s hard to see but simply trim white tissue paper to a quarter-inch smaller (on each side) than a piece of regular printer paper and tape it down securely. To prep the image, I used PhotoShop to remove the background (do this online at PicMonkey.com or PhotoShop.com if you don’t have any editing software on your computer) and made the image black and white.

Run the tissue paper (mounted on a piece of regular paper) through your printer. Trim the image closely. Spread a thin layer of mod podge on a well inflated balloon and gently apply the print out to the balloon. Finish adhering the cutout to the balloon with another layer of mod podge and let dry. It’s helpful to attach the balloons to a balloon stick or have a place to clip or rest them while they’re drying.

If the balloon sticks are a little high or long for your display, use a fun paper straw to hold your balloon head up! Then anchor it in a fun container and you’re ready for a fun Father’s Day display that  will make any dad smile!
