In a nice way I promise! As a family we really love finding ways to make someones day special. A few years ago we thought it would be really fun to “egg” a few of our friends by hiding easter eggs and doorbell ditching with a note letting them know we were thinking of them. Our children had the very best time running around trying to be quiet and hide the eggs. After we would ring the doorbell and jump in the car they would beg to drive back by and see the excited families collecting the eggs. I think there is no better way to teach your children about service then letting them have fun while doing it.
All you need is:
The sign- We thought we would make it easier for you to egg your friends as well so we made this free printable. Its 5×7 so you can print it on a full page and have a white boarder or you could put two on a page if you wanted to save paper and egg lots of friends.
Plastic eggs- We left a blank spot on the printable so you could write in however many you choose to hide. I like to at least hide 6 per child so that they get to find lots of eggs but that is totally up to you.
Candy or something to fill the eggs- if you need non-sugar ideas check out yesterdays post!
A basket- This isn’t really necessary but I like to leave something on the porch. I bought this cute little bunny basket for 4 dollars at Target. They have a bigger version for larger families for only 6 dollars. Of course on my way out I happened past the dollar spot and found these cute scalloped buckets which would be perfect if you just want to do a little hunt.
The great thing about this idea is that the cost is so low. Plastic eggs and candy don’t cost much but the surprise of it all brings serious joy!
We delivered one today to dear friends and I stuck around to get shots of them for you to see how it all works. Aren’t they adorable?
Have you ever done something like this for someone? I know that the joy it brought my kids was just equal to the joy it brought the families we shared the eggs with! Try it! Its so much fun.

What a sweet idea and those bunny ear barrettes are too cute!
Aww what a neat idea! The best feeling in the world to me is surprising my son (vday morning, christmas morning, birthday morning) with neat things or activities. The look of excitement and pure joy is priceless. I’m looking forward to his “east bunny” visit this year. =)
Lisa, Those bunny ear clips are from the dollar spot at Target. They even have a clip bunny tail to match!
LOVE THIS! I am going to have to do it!
This is a wonderful idea!!!
