Do you ever have an idea in your head that you’re just determined to make work? That was me with a “word” cake or cupcake topper. I’d seen a few out there on several amazing event blogs and floating around Pinterest and couldn’t get the idea out of my head – but alas, there weren’t any comprehensive tutorials (that I was able to find in my self imposed 20 minute search – cause if I don’t set a timer then it could go on for HOURS!) on how to cut the words so they’d be attached.
So here is how I finally figured out how to cut the “EEK” cupcake topper from our Witch’s Brew Party. The tutorial shows the original “Toil and Trouble” idea I had – but it overwhelmed the cupcakes so I made an adjustment and went with “EEK”. The process is the same, regardless of the word or font.
I cut two “eek”s out, painted a wood skewer black, and sandwiched the two sides with glue over the skewer. I’m envisioning these for all kinds of holidays and celebrations we have coming up!
So cute! Great idea. Totally Pinning this right now.
I love it! What is the material for ‘eek’? Card stock? I am making a topper for my friend’s wedding, this is perfect timing! :)
I just used card stock – if you needed it to be more substantial you could use the Silhouette chip board and then glitter it or cut a paper topper for the chipboard… We can’t wait to see your version for the wedding!
This looks great! Amazing job :) So jealous of your Silhouette.
