Sometimes when shower planning it feels like it’s “all been done” – and sometimes it has! We’ve seen onesie guest books, diaper notes “guest books”, traditional baby book sign in sheets, signed children’s books… and yet even with all of those amazing ideas out there, nothing seemed quite right for our paper airplane shower. Insert a little late night Amazon browsing and that sweet little Fuji Instax camera popped up. Boom! The guest book was born. Combined with some black and white Project Life cards (from the Midnight Edition), a plain heavy weight “cardboard” (or is it heavy chip board? or something else?) binder (this one is similar), a monogrammed cover (the Silhouette printable cotton canvas, again!) and sweet notes from the shower guest attendees – we had ourselves a perfect guest book!
The book was prepped with a copy of the invitation and some of the cute phrase cards from the Midnight edition popped in with double stick tape.
The hostesses took turns taking pictures of the Mom to Be and guests. As the images were taken they were laid out on the counter to “develop” and so we could be sure we got a picture of everyone.
While the mom to be started to open gifts, we stuck the pictures in based on how many guests there were. Some pages only had one image and some had two. Then the book, cards, pen and tape were passed among the guests so they could choose a card, write a note and tape it in the book. The benefit to using the cards was the ability to re-do or re-write a note if there was a mistake – there wasn’t any pressure to get it right in the book. Plus, they are just cute.
There were three blank pages in the back that will be perfect for an ultrasound picture or other memento from the shower or pregnancy that the mom to be kept. We also snuck in a picture of the parents to be when Dad came to load up the gifts and one of all the hostesses with the mom to be.
So adorable! Love all of the creative uses for PL papers :)
