We are so grateful to Lindt for making today’s post possible! Lindt is all about Melting Moments, and who needs those moments more than moms?!
We like to celebrate around here, and Mother’s Day is no exception. Celebrating our moms, celebrating motherhood, and celebrating our friends who are moms is truly a delight. This breakfast or brunch set up is playful and chic all at the same time – just like our favorite mammas.
A bistro table is the perfect set up for an intimate brunch with your favorite mom. There is a reason French sidewalks are crammed full of them outside cafés! They are cozy and make conversation easy. With simple adornments in bright and mismatched, but coordinating, patterns, the table sets the tone for the fun breakfast about to follow.
Candice made a colorful and totally sweet candy chandelier from an embroidery hoop and Lindt LINDOR Truffles (more on that later).
The truffles’ wrappers inspired the bright placemats, yellow flowers and other pops of color.
At each place setting (because it never hurts to treat yourself, too!) a clear box filled with a mix of our favorite Lindt LINDOR truffle flavors, wrapped with black and white striped grosgrain and a bold heart tag with a simple sentiment.
We couldn’t decide which version we liked better, so we made both!
You can download the tags (both colors, multiple to a page) to print for any of your gifts! >> For Mom Heart Labels<<
I love a good menu – it’s fun to know what you’re going to get! So we created a printable menu to coordinate with the gift tags on which you can print or hand write the courses. >> For Mom Heart Menus <<
The big “tada!” moment of our table is the truffle “chandelier.” You won’t believe how easy it is to create. You’ll need a 12″ embroidery hoop (about $1.99), thin wire (ours is from the jewelry section, about $2), hot glue/gun, twine/string to hang it (we used jute twine) and a bunch of your favorite color or flavor Lindt LINDOR truffles.
Start by making “strands” of truffles. It’s important to overlap the wrappers so that they don’t come unwrapped during the process (and guard your truffle stash from sneaky three year old fingers!).
Then using a short piece of wire (about 3 inches or so) connect them together by wrapping the wire around the “twists” of the packaging. Continue until you’ve achieved the length of strand you want. (6 or 7 is good!). Using more wire, connect the truffle strands to the hoop at even intervals (we have 8 strands) and then to each other at the bottom. The “tassel” is just three truffles wired and connected in the center.
To finish it off, hot glue (low heat) truffles around the outsides of the hoop. We found that you can preserve the truffle by putting the glue on the hoop, letting it cool for a few seconds and then gently pressing the truffle into the glue.
Now on to the main event! These orange glazed truffle waffles are literally the most amazing thing. How bad could a waffle with chopped truffle in it be?
Topped with a warm orange marmalade glaze and chopped white chocolate (or milk or dark – whatever floats your boat!) these show stopping treats will seriously make your Mother’s day memorable.
Sarah has the perfect waffle recipe – and she’s shared it below – but don’t let from scratch waffles scare you. We won’t judge if you use a mix!
A big, HUGE, thank you to our friends at Lindt for sending us the amazing truffles and who didn’t flinch when we asked for them by color and not flavor (because they don’t make a bad flavor and we knew we wanted certain colors – doesn’t everyone pick chocolate like that?). We appreciate Lindt making this Mother’s Day extra special!
