April seems to be a busy month – spring arrives, usually Easter is in there, the end of the school year doesn’t seem that far away, warmer weather makes us all happy that winter is coming to an end. April is also Donate Life Month – a campaign to bring awareness to organ donation.

Most people think of organ donation as an ‘adult’ thing. You give your ‘yes’ or ‘no’ at the DMV for your driver’s license. There might be a donor sign up at your work place or the mall. Almost none of us think about pediatric organ donation until it personally affects us.

Our friend Kelly at Cloudy Day Gray is out to change that. Her sweet daughter Matilda spent 72 days in the pediatric-ICU and underwent a liver transplant at only 6 weeks old. She received her new liver from an infant that passed away. An infant whose parents had to make an incredibly selfless, and probably insanely difficult, decision to give their baby’s organs to save the life of another baby.

Now a thriving two-year old, Matilda and Kelly are out to raise awareness and bring light to the life saving potential of pediatric organ donation. Kelly’s goal is to collect 1,900 images on InstaGram with the #HowIDonateLife hashtag. 1,900 to symbolize the 1,900 children waiting on their new organs.
