We’re so excited to show you a simple Valentine idea that your sweetheart will love. I don’t know about you, but I sometimes get a little frustrated when I spend hours on a homemade gift for my husband, and he doesn’t really get all of the work that went into it. Homemade macarons are definitely more appreciated by Candice and Amanda then they are by Doug! I may be generalizing from self, but men like a tasty treat and I like using high quality ingredients to make even the simplest recipe shine since they really don’t care how long it took to make!
This is why we came up with a Valentine treat that any man will love (unless you have one of those crazy men who don’t appreciate chocolate or peanut butter)! These come together in about ten minutes, and they’re easy for kids to put together, so they also make perfect teachers’ Valentine’s. If nuts are an issue for you, you can always use sunflower seed butter for the filling.
A bag of Ghirardelli chocolate baking chips is about two cups and will make about twenty of these treats. Ghirardelli makes several kinds of baking chips and the Ghirardelli 60% cacao baking chips would be amazing in this recipe, too! We made these using paper straws so that they make pops and topped them with Ghirardelli Valentine’s Day Impressions for an easy, tasty embellishment. You don’t need to use the straws, but they make a nice handle and presentation!
Wrap them in a cello bag tied with a bow and give a bouquet of chocolatey goodness this Valentine’s day!
Ghirardelli Valentine Pops
Ingredients:
- 1 pckg Ghirardelli chocolate baking chips
- 1 Tbsp vegetable oil
- Smooth peanut butter
- 40 butter crackers (we used Ritz)
- 1 pckg Ghirardelli Valentine’s Day Impressions
- 10 paper straws, cut in half with one end pinched.
Instructions:
- Place 1 Tbsp of peanut butter on the rounded side of half of the crackers and top with the other half of the crackers.
- In a medium saucepan, over low heat, combine baking morsels and vegetable oil.
- Stir chocolate until melted and smooth and remove from heat.
- Using two forks, dip one of the cracker sandwiches in the chocolate.
- Set the chocolate crackers on parchment paper and insert the pinched end of the straw in between the two crackers.
- Top with a Ghirardelli Valentine’s Day Impressions. We topped some with the full square, and topped others with the heart from the center (if you take the heart from the center it leaves you with the edges … you know … for quality control tasting!).
