We are crazy about gender reveals. Roll your eyes if you want, it’s ok, but we love ’em. When our friend Kori announced she and her husband were expecting their third child, we couldn’t wait to talk her into letting us set up a gender reveal for her sweet family.
First, third or sixth, knowing the gender of your baby is one of the greatest surprises we can think of.
Whether you celebrate it with a photo shoot or a breakfast for your older kids or a party for your nearest and dearest – or just to shout it out on Facebook – it’s definitely something to celebrate!
We crafted these simple confetti poppers from push pop type containers found on Pick Your Plum (You can also find Push Pop Containers
on Amazon). Filled with a homemade mix of confetti, tissue paper shreds, and foil stars – they were practically a party in themselves!
So what will it be? A petite mademoiselle or a dapper monsieur?
It’s a girl!!! (Don’t you love that he looked right at her?)
The confetti poppers are super easy to assemble. You’ll need the push pop type containers, confetti, a label that completely covers the outside and a circle of card-stock or other opaque paper trimmed to fit snugly into the top of the container so the confetti color can’t be seen (if it’s a surprise!) Print (and trim) the labels and a fix them to the containers. We used Silhouette’s adhesive kraft paper so it would be super duper opaque!
The pink mix is a combination of gold foil stars, very light pink paper strip confetti, fringed and cut pink tissue paper, pink paper dot confetti and shredded pink shred (literally pink shred that was cut into even smaller pieces). You could use all of one kind – pre bought or made from a few pieces of tissue paper. It takes a fluffy handful to fill the container.
The blue mix is gold foil stars, white, light blue, mid blue and darker blue tissue paper fringed and cut into square-ish shapes. After the container is filled, gently place the card-stock circle on top making sure it covers all the confetti and is nice and snug. To get the biggest “bang”, hold the popper firmly with one hand and with the palm of your other hand firmly and swiftly strike the handle with your palm forcing the handle and plunger up!
