Can we all give a collective “Hurrah!” that baby showers are not strictly limited to cutsie-pie themes any more? I realize that the general purpose is to celebrate the impending arrival of a baby, but it’s mom who attends, and I think it’s so fun to style the event in her tastes.
Our friend Tori, over at the sTORIbook, worked with Dr. Smith’s (one of our favorite baby product companies) on her go-to baby shower gift. Hop over there to see how she combines the “fun” and the “needed”.
Here are some of my favorite details:
The dessert/favor/drink table was the highlight of our baby shower set up. Using a moss backdrop (from our friends at Pop Up Parties) layered in the Botanical line from My Mind’s Eye, created a beautiful focal point.
I love a good complicated party beverage almost as much as I love a simple, ready to go drink option. Sarah introduced me to this French sparkling lemonade, and it’s become my go-to (literally, I always have a bottle of it in my fridge!).
Take a store bought cake up a notch with your own additions – like these on-palette macaron cookies added to the top for a little extra, and special, flair.
The macarons did triple duty – as cake toppers, as party favors, and as impromptu table decor (the colors were just so perfect!).
Layered party fans and floral garland made up the bulk of the backdrop, anchored by sheet moss adhered to two pieces foam core board, hung side by side. I love incorporating a maternity picture in the decor, if the mom-to-be has had them taken.
I fought a little bit with the name banner – it wasn’t hanging exactly how I envisioned it. Instead of stringing it, I simply used gold push pins to attach it to the foam core board.
I have a friend who’s 40th birthday is coming up… and I’m thinking that this may make an appearance at her party, too!

This is so beautiful and chic!
