By now, regular readers and friends know about my (generally, our) love affair with black and white and Kate Spade design – so when Candice found these pretty white ornaments and we were scheming of a plan, we knew just who to turn to for inspiration!
Coupled with a little Martha Stewart Glass Paint (just FYI – do NOT bake the ornaments to set the paint – they are NOT oven safe. The paint will air cure while hanging on your tree!) and a steady hand, we whipped up a set of beautifully inspired DIY ornaments.
We used some Rub-N-Buff (found near the gold leaf/paint pens in our nearest craft store) and a stiff bristle brush to turn the silver ornament tops and pewter letter charm (found in the jewelry section) a pretty gold.
Hung with a fat gros grain ribbon, our polka dots, fat stripes (which we found easiest to free hand – using tape to mark off lines for the stripes resulted in patches of white paint coming off the ornament) these add a tres chic element to our Christmas trees and would be darling for topping a gift or for an ornament exchange!
Where are the white ornaments from?? LOVE!!
I think the plain ornament was from Hobby Lobby, and then Amanda decorated them with paint.
You could use clear ornaments and pour white paint inside. I have done that.
